Halloween in Santa Cruz!

November 3, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Hey everyone!

Halloween here in Santa Cruz was awesome!  They cordoned off the main drag downtown, Pacific Avenue, and everyone got to parade up and down the street in their amazing costumes!  There was music, performers, dancing, and US!

We completed the Halloween Ritual with play piercing and a small 3-way energy pull.  Pictures below!

Tribal Mateo and Tribal SammyThese were our costumes.  Mateo called me early in the afternoon to request I make him some sort of loin cloth and matching tribal garb for myself.  We had been so busy up to this point that we hadn’t much thought about what we would dress up as, but I think this worked out VERY well!  All night we got people asking us if we were dressed as characters from the movie “Apocalypto”.  We weren’t, but our costumes were appreciated nonetheless!

Fresh Marking

Fresh PiercedMark (“Freshman”) was the first to be pierced.  He has suspended before, so this experience was nothing new to him.

Britt Pierce

Britt Pierce

Brittany was the next one up!  She was a virgin to the body ritual procedure.  Never been hooked before, but eager and excited to experience something new!

Third Eye

Third Eye

Before I threw the hooks for Mateo, we each did a third eye piercing on the other!  The play piercing needles were very thin, so they didn’t hurt much.  Hence, the big smiles!  Hahaha!

The sun came and went, and the group pulled really hard!  There was a lot of energy bouncing around, but it was getting really chilly, so they called it quits.  Until….

We went downtown and they boys pulled me around Pacific Ave in a shopping cart!  :)

People were freaked out, and excited, and intrigued, and all kinds of different reactions all at once!

If you know of anybody who has pictures of us, please leave a comment!  We’d love to see any of the pictures people snapped while we were out performing!

So, that was halloween!  I’ve got TONS more photos to look over and post, so stay tuned!  Hopefully they’ll be up by the end of the week!

Long time no post!

October 24, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Sorry for the long wait between posts, folks!  We experienced a very saddening hard drive crash a week ago!  We lost a lot of great photos when the computer died, but I fixed it up a few days ago, and we’re back up and running smoothly.  We’ve also been keeping ourselves pret-ty dern busy lately, so posting is something we have had very little time for.  Awesomely enough, despite our spot of bad luck there are some very nice new things for you to look at!

Sub-Navel Surface Anchors

Sub Navel Surface Anchor Side View

This young lady waltzed in on a particularly yucky day!  It was raining cats and dogs out, and she walked all the way to the shop to get some anchors below her navel.  She expressed to me that she had wanted three navel piercings, but her navel was not suited for it.  So, she wanted the anchors instead.  This photo is from a week or so after the initial piercing.  Please excuse the bruise!

Ear Lobe

Ear Lobe

Most people seem to be under the impression that ear lobes are easy to pierce!  This is not true, ladies and gents!  In fact, ear lobes can sometimes be trickier than the more “advanced” piercings, because it is so easy to recognize a discrepancy in angles when you view the lobe from the side.  That said, we love piercing ear lobes here!  :)

Cute Septum

Mateo did this septum piercing last night on a young lady who came ahead of time to arrange an appointment with us.  It went quickly, smoothly, and came out perfect as usual!  Spot on!

Side Lip x2

Side Lip x2

Our friend Mark [aka Freshman] previously had his lip pierced by Mateo on one side in this same fashion.  After removing the old piercings, he wanted to have matching scars on the other side as well.  So, Mateo conjured up some magic and did identical piercings on the other side.  He hopes to heal them and then remove them for a similar scarred effect on both sides!

Forward Helix

Forward Helix

Lastly, Mateo conjured up just a smidge more jedi force to put this incredibly cute and dainty little forward helix piercing on my left ear!  :)   I like it a lot.  It’s so subtle, you can only just barely see it peeking out from behind my hair if you’re paying close attention, but the angle is perfect, and it was as painless as a cartilage piercing could possibly be.

IN OTHER NEWS!

Take note: This Halloween we will be giving $10 discounts to individuals who come in to the shop sporting some sort of Halloween costume!

Put yer heart into it!  Real costumes only…no college students dressed as college students unless we can tell you made an effort!

We are also putting on a small Halloween Body Ritual Event! This will include play piercings and energy/flesh pulls! If you would like to attend, please keep in mind that this is a very intense and intimate experience.  **If you are uncomfortable with visible blood, extreme body ritual, needles, or any related fare, please observe with caution and respect.  Individuals exhibiting disruptive behavior, or negatively affecting ritual participants will be asked to leave.**

If you would like to participate in the ritual, please contact us as soon as possible by telephone or email:

Phone: 831-676-8048

Email: waybodyarts@gmail.com

So, I leave all you dear blog readers with those nice tidbits.  I hope to return soon with more fancy things with which you might entertain yourselves for awhile.  Take care!

Yesterday’s Customers:

October 3, 2009 · 1 Comment

Yesterday I did quite a few piercings!  So here are photos of most of them…

18g Nostril

18g Nostril Close-Up

Above are two photos of the same 18g nostril piercing.  We used an 18g Neometal threadless mini-barbell with a little CZ gem!

16g Tragus

Here is a 16g tragus piercing, which outfitted with a 16g Neometal threadless discback with an Emerald gem!

16g Double Tragus

This client had their tragus pierced before, and it had been forcefully torn from her ear!  Instead of piercing in the same central location so close to the scar tissue, I suggested doing two piercings above and below the scar!  This piercing also has 16g Neometal threadless discbacks with one Emerald and one CZ gem.

16g Helix

16g Helix Side View

Lastly, we have a simple 16g helix piercing.  I also used the same style Neometal threadless barbell, and her requested plain ball end.  I included a side view of the angle that the piercing was done at, so you can see it is completely perpendicular to the ear!

That’s all I’ve got for today.  Hopefully I will get finished editing the Grand Opening photos sometime soon, so I can post those for you all to see!  :)

Until next time…

10 more days!

September 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Hey y’all!  Time for another post to update you on the progress of the space!  It’s looking mighty fine, if we do say so ourselves.  The StatimS are here!  We’ve received SOME of our jewelry…and we’re pretty much just waiting for the jewelry companies to catch up with us.  It seems like the labor day weekend, in conjunction with burning man, kinda set us back in terms of shipments we were expecting.  Oh well!  On to more exciting things!  The Room - So Close To Completion! The room is so close to being done, it’s making us anxious to do more piercings!  After Ash’s big labret, our friend Eleanore asked if we could pierce her septum at 6g, and it was our pleasure to do it for her.  Sadly, we don’t have any pictures of that sweet baby to post right now [though we will pretty soon], so I’ll satiate your photographic appetites with another friend and client of ours:Beautiful Labradorite Jewelry!Beautiful Labradorite Jewelry!

Meet Mark [aka Freshman!], and his beautiful ears and jewelry!  Matching labradorite plugs in his flats and earlobes, for a classy pair of listening devices, courtesy of Mateo’s meticulous hands!  :)

00g Labret

Mateo also executed this mighty fine labret, which is sporting a custom teflon labret from the wonderful people at Aesthetics [http://www.aestheticsbodymod.com]!

That’s all we’ve got for now!  I’ll be working on some more collages to show off the shop decor and our jewelry cases, which should have jewelry in them by next post.  If you’re in town, definitely stop on in!

As usual!  Don’t forget to come on out for the grand opening party!  We’re going to have a raffle with prizes, which may include a sweet jean jacket vest from yours truly!  :)

Mateo put this gorgeous little green/clear piece of Gorilla Glass in our friend Ashley’s lip a little while ago.  Here is the result!

She was very happy with how it came out, and Mateo should be doing another on her boyfriend in the future!  Stay tuned for more pictures of piercings we do as they come in!  :)

We definitely are almost down to the wire.  Things are coming together really nicely, so we thought we’d drop in with some more pictures of the progress!  We’re waiting on jewelry orders from Neometal and Gorilla Glass.  Click the links to see the company web pages and catch a glimpse of the quality we’ll be bringing your way soon!

Almost complete!

Next, we have a picture of one of the three jewelry cases we will be filling with jewelry soon.  We have two that resemble the one pictured.  We painted the trim and stained them ourselves!  We’ll have a picture of the other antique case once the glass is set!

Gorgeous, isn't it!?

We also got our business cards in today.  They look wonderful!  If you catch one of us on the street, you’d be a fool not to ask for one.  :)   Don’t miss out.

Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall…

August 25, 2009 · Leave a Comment

So, I’ve got a picture here of the room we’ll be piercing out of. This is what it looked like a few days ago. It’s small, but we don’t need a ton of space, so it’s a great size for us! Since this photo was taken, we hung the jewelry storage boxes, and hemmed the curtains the close the room off. We’ll be receiving a few orders on Wednesday. One of which is a nice steel table, where we will place our Statim autoclave. The other will be full of needles and various supplies necessary to each procedure. Yay! Pictures will come again when we have the room fully set up. We’ll try to snap pictures of all the jewelry cases we got, and some of the slabs of stone we polished up for the displays.

Definitely still missing a few things!

Definitely still missing a few things!

We are also sad to report that our back-up autoclave, dear Harvey, is not feeling so well and needs repair. He heats up just fine, but can’t seem to hold pressure, and his computers tell us there is some sort of control error going on. We will attempt to get him to the doctor ASAP.

In blog news, check out the new page we made for the custom stone body jewelry we are making! There is a link at the top for CUSTOM STONE JEWELRY. Click that bad boy and stare at some nice rocks for a little while!

And just a reminder:

WAY Body Arts: Shop Coming Soon!

August 12, 2009 · 3 Comments

Hello all!

This is the first post on our shop blog!  Here, you’ll find pictures of jewelry we’ve made, piercings we’ve done, or anything related to the shop that we’re generally excited about…which will probably be a lot of things.

At the moment we have a space lined up and ready for us to transform into our personal piercing diggs at 1010 Fair Avenue, Suite D, Santa Cruz, CA.  We’re teaming up with Chimera Tattoo Studio & Art Gallery, to bring Santa Cruz the absolute best in art, tattoos, and piercings all in one spot. We’ll post photos of the space as we make it our own.  Sadly, we’re at a bit of a standoff between us and the MAN [banks] in getting our loan, with us weilding battle axes [no credit], and them with something similar to flame throwers [denials].  It’s going to be rough, but I think we might be able to cut them down to size, and make it happen on schedule. If so, we will be having our big bad crazy amazing grand freaking opening on September 19th!
